The Assam girl created a buzz at a fashion week in the city, and now has designs on using traditional fabric to embellish outfits for all.

Most children are happy with a wardrobe of trendy buys from the neighbourhood mall. But not this young new designer who made heads turn at the recently concluded Blender’s Pride Bangalore Fashion Week with her label Rani Pink Studio. Indrani Royan, who grew up in Assam and shifted base to Bengaluru after getting married, recalls instances from her childhood, that prove that she was always a couturier waiting to unleash her talent. “I was always fashionable and used to get my clothes done the way I wanted from my tailor,” she begins.

Indrani Royan started Ranipink Studio in 2013. Born in Assam, Indrani made Bengaluru her home after marriage and is “influenced by the varied hues and styles of Assam and namma Bengaluru. I draw inspiration from the rich Indian heritage and give it a touch of modernity.”
Always having a passion for design, Indrani chose fashion over music and graduated from Pearl Academy, New Delhi. She then went on to assist some of the leading designers in the industry before branching out on her own.

Her studio gradually grew famous and she recently participated at the Blender’s Pride Bangalore Fashion Week at Sheraton Grand Bengaluru, where she showcased her latest collection celebrating the urban woman. Called “An Ode To The Urban Princess”, the collection grabbed eyeballs at the show for its bright hues, cuts and styling. Indrani says, “It is a collection for the metropolitan woman who is a go-getter. The clothes are a balance of modern styles and ethnic roots to mirror the various roles of an urban woman. It is a celebration of their undying resolve, style and exquisite beauty.”
